TO DEVELOP ALL SOCCER PLAYERS IN THE WATERLOO REGION THROUGH ELITE & GRASSROOTS TRAINING.

About FFTW Development

Our aim is to train and improve the likes of soccer players of all levels to enable them to achieve and compete at a higher standard.

At FFTW, we are committed to providing an enjoyable soccer experience for all participants and having a focus on long-term participation and development for all the players we work with.

FFTW Development has two main branches on which it operates. These include the FFTW Academy where we have elite teams (U8-U18) which participate in year round training and participation in leagues/tournaments. The other includes our FFTW Development programs which focus on player development (seasonal programs, summer camps, & 1 on 1/small group training) which players of all levels aged 5-15 can participate. All of our programs look to improve each player's soccer IQ and overall performance on the pitch through an individual level alongside being able to function in a team environment. Our programs are for any player who truly loves the game of soccer and wants to improve in all aspects of the game in a fun and challenging environment.

FFTW Development is a one of a kind program where your child will develop in two key areas, TECHNICALLY (as an INDIVIDUAL) and TACTICALLY (as a MEMBER OF A TEAM).

FFTW Development is a proud member of Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer.

LTPD

LTPD stands for Long Term Player Development. LTPD is a model of athlete development that parallels what doctors and psychologists have long used to better understand human development: as a series of distinct stages, which take us from infancy through adulthood. A person’s abilities, behaviour and emotions, as well as their understanding of the world around them, varies from stage to stage. In other words, LTPD is designed to give players an optimal soccer experience at every stage by putting their needs front and centre.

KICKING TECHNIQUE (PASSING & SHOOTING)

Players will learn how to pass and strike the ball with all different parts of their feet. A focus is put on when to use which technique at any given time in a match scenario. Practicing and mastering the ability to pass with both feet is also a key element in this section.

Educare University

CONTROL ABILITY (GROUND & AERIAL)

Players will learn how to control the ball both on the ground and in the air. Players will learn which type of control to use depending on whether they are being marked or not. The three key elements of this section include how to cushion, protect and travel with the ball.

Educare University

DRIBBLING SKILLS (SPEED SKILLS & TURNS)

Players will learn a variety of different speed skills and turning techniques. Speed skills can be used to beat a defender and turning techniques will help the player get that little bit of extra space on the pitch to make something happen.

Educare University

ATTACK VS. DEFENSE

This area will focus on ‘transition play’. Players will learn how to react when losing or regaining the ball in relation to where they, their teammates and the opponents are. Key elements include when to counter attack and how to recover when losing the ball.

Educare University

POSITIONAL PLAY

Players will learn where they should be on the pitch in relation to the ball, where their teammates and where the opposition is. They will be given the opportunity to try different positions and roles and have a better understanding of what is expected in each position without limiting creativity.

POSSESSION

Our Development programs also include a high importance on the reason we want to keep the ball and what we can do with it. Our key focus in this area is not just to keep the ball for the sake of it, but how we can use it to move the ball forward and attack or draw the opposition in. Our belief is that when you keep the ball, you are able to control the game and dictate what you want to do with it.
